Loose Change Entertainment in Talks to Offer Lojban Version of Products

Independent Michigan Movie Production company may be first to have its movies available with Lojban subtitles/audio track. Talks are underway with Michigan Lojban Group to translate scripts.

Movies shot in Michigan may be the first to be subtitled in Lojban. Loose Change Entertainment, a Detroit based independent movie production company, is currently in talks with the Michigan Lojban Group to make this happen.

"We're always looking for opportunities to expose our movies to more people," says John F. Kerr, co-owner of Loose Change

Entertainment. "Why not also use them to educate people on the language of Lojban? I'm intrigued and excited about making this happen."

Lojban is defined as "a carefully constructed language designed in the hope of removing a large portion of the ambiguity from human communication." Built over five decades by dozens of workers and hundreds of supporters, Lojban was founded informally in 1987, and incorporated in 1988. It was made well-known by a Scientific American article and references in both science fiction and computer publications.

The plan would be for the Michigan Lojban Group to translate the movie scripts into Lojban, and then Loose Change Entertainment would do the rest.

"Once the scripts were translated we'd look into remastering the movies on DVD with Lojban subtitle options and/or a Lojban audio track," says Kerr.

Either way, the scripts themselves would be available in Lojban.

"Hopefully people curious about Lojban would consider using the translated scripts as tools to increase their expertise with the language," says local Lojban enthusiast Bruce Webber, a member in good standing with the Michigan Lojban Group. "If Loose Change Entertainment also puts a Lojban subtitles/audio tracks on the DVDs, all the better!"
