Leading DNA Forensics Laboratory Receives Full Texas DPS Accreditation

Chromosomal Laboratories, Inc., a leading DNA testing laboratory, is pleased to announce their accreditation by the Texas Department of Public Safety to provide full forensic DNA services to law enforcement professionals in Texas. This accreditation and recognition by the Texas DPS allows Chromosomal Laboratories to begin to support the efforts of Texas Law Enforcement in basic CODIS databasing, no-suspect criminal cases, physical evidence examinations, as well as Y chromosome testing.

Texas has been one of the forerunners in the establishment and use of DNA profiles on offender profiles, forensic samples and value to current and “cold case” investigations. As of July 14, 2006, Texas has supplied a large volume of information to the FBI National DNA Database, with volume ranking in the top 5 states.

The laboratory is also accredited by Forensic Quality Services International (FQS-I). FQS-I is an independent corporation established in 2003 by the National Forensic Science Technology Center (NFSTC). FQS-I is a separate business unit within FQS, whose sole purpose is accreditation of forensic laboratories to ISO 17025. It is one of the accrediting bodies recognized by the National DNA Index System (NDIS) Procedures Board and the only one that has completed the rigorous scrutiny of operations required for recognition by the National Cooperative for Laboratory Accreditation.
