Ann French is the owner of the new business and she is excited about the revitalization of Brasher Falls. Since the recent economic development in the tri-town area has allowed a few smaller business to thrive, said Ann, "We're selling handmade crafts, baskets, art and furniture as well as offering classes to lots of people" she said on Wednesday. (21st of June 2006) She went further, "and even though the official opening is almost here- I already have space in the shop rented to several other businesses from the larger towns nearby."

Ann's baskets are all over the United States- friends and family love them. Lots of the fam' has even learned how to make them while vacationing here in the adirondacks.

I'm 20 minutes from both Potsdam and Massena NY and not much further from Canton NY, Malone NY and also Cornwall, Ontario. We're an hour and a half from Plattsburgh, NY and Montreal, Qc and Lake Placid NY.

Ann French has owned other businesses in the area, and has seen them all go from startup businesses to successful establishments. You may have heard of the Willow Tree Flower Shop and Winthrop Furniture located near Potsdam and in Winthrop NY, respectively.

Brasher Falls, it seems, is back in full economic swing. It may never be New York City, but recent economic indicators such as the re-opening of Erin's Isle (restaurant), increased interest in the chamber of commerce, and the success of many local businesses has rekindled many people's interest in this small north-country village.
