Denver, CO (PRWEB via HRMarketer) July 14, 2006 -- Stephen Anderson, the president of Anderson-davis, Inc., was again selected by the Fair Employment and Housing Commission (FEHC) to provide AB 1825 sexual harassment training to its new Commissioners on August 28th. Mr. Anderson first trained the Commissioners in June 2005, after the FEHC’s Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) vetted his sexual harassment training program and materials. The FEHC also appointed Stephen to its Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee, that reviewed and drafted language for the new Harassment Training and Education regulations, which were approved June 20th 2006.

Stephen’s innovative sexual harassment training methods have been featured on ABC’s 20/20, Oprah and Japanese television. The content of his vetted training program and materials are the foundation of Anderson-davis, Inc.’s NEW (AB 1825) compliant blended learning training solution for California employers. They can also be used all U.S. employers to provide legally defensible sexual harassment training.

The blended courseware is titled Managing a Harassment-Free & Diverse Workplace; comprised of sexual harassment eLearning, DVD Trainer’s Kit and in-house facilitated programs for supervisors. These innovative and engaging programs assist employers in delivering highly interactive sexual harassment training that provide today’s supervisors with:

  • A real-world understanding about how to recognize the differences between acceptable flirting, joking around, workplace dating, touching, social interactions and behavior prohibited by their employer’s sexual harassment policy, when no one has said, “stop!”
  • Objective methods for recognizing new types of prohibited behavior, i.e., sexual content/video/stills on cell phones, Ipods, etc.
  • Clarification on their roles and responsibilities for monitoring the workplace and preventing sexual harassment
  • A thorough understanding about where and when the organization’s harassment policy is applicable
  • An understanding that an employee does not have to say, “I want to file a sexual harassment complaint” before a supervisor must act
  • A four-step process for avoiding mistakes and responding appropriately if a complainant says, “Don’t do anything, I just wanted your opinion.”
  • An eight-step process for knowing when and how to intervene and stop prohibited behavior when no one has complained
  • An increased willingness to partner with HR to immediately identify and resolve subtle harassment situations
  • A better understanding of HR’s responsibilities and process for investigating harassment claims
  • A framework for identifying behavior prohibited by Federal and California state laws/rules that prohibit sexual and protected characteristics harassment and discrimination and retaliation (other states’ laws/rules are also included)

Features of the eLearning course:

  • Over sixty white and blue-collar scenarios that dramatize various types of prohibited behavior and practical methods for receiving a complaint, preventing retaliation and intervening to stop prohibited behavior, when no complaint
  • Free personalization of the course with: the names of the participant, organization, complaint department, and employer’s policy against harassment
  • Navigation that requires interaction with all scenarios, discussion questions and activities
  • Email link for questions and guidance
  • List of organization’s key contacts
  • Course test with 10 scenario dramatizations
  • Personalized Certificate of Completion that requires the learner to confirm that he/she understands the course’s content, their employer’s policy and knows where to go for advice or help
  • Customization options include: video/flash message from senior management, landing page with organization’s colors, logo, welcome message/text and requested links
  • SCORM 1.2, AICC and Gov. Section 508 compliance

Features of the blended learning in-house training and DVD Trainer’s Kit :

  • The same scenario dramatizations and content as the eLearning course
  • Personalized participant workbooks
  • A separate Quiz Handout – that assesses the participant’s understanding of key learning points and provides them with practice in applying their employer’s sexual/non harassment policy and the program’s resolution skills
  • Lesson plans that include trainer’s scripts, resources and information that give trainers everything they need to deliver a tailored training program
  • Optional quizzes and training activities
  • Methods for effectively dealing with hostile participants
  • A PowerPoint for each lesson plan
  • A two-hour sexual harassment lesson plan (California Harassment Training and Education compliant)
  • A three-hour protected characteristics harassment/respectful workplace lesson plan (California Harassment Training and Education compliant)
  • Optional training activities, content and scenarios to lengthen both lesson plans above

How Anderson-davis’s training programs can positively impact an organization:

“We are very confident that this training will help us reduce our potential liabilities because:
1. Management have increased their interaction with our HR department, i.e. they are asking questions about situations that existed prior to the training, (which were not dealt with or were ignored) and
2. Supervisors are intervening and stopping behavior prohibited by our sexual harassment policy, without waiting for a complaint.”
Chinten Parikh, Manager, Workforce Diversity and Development
