Sport Ryder Rentals Thriving After Rezoning Rejection by Southlake, Texas City Council

Sport Ryder Rentals is renting our more motorcycles than ever after a defeat by the SouthLake City Council to rezone an area to allow motorcycle rentals in a light industrial part of the city. Motorcycle rentals for the online store increased by a third in the week following the news, demonstrating clear market demand in the area.

(PRWEB) July 20, 2006 -- Sport Ryder Rentals is renting our more motorcycles than ever after a defeat by the SouthLake City council to rezone an area to allow motorcycle rentals in a light industrial part of the city. Currently, Sport Ryder Rentals does not have a brick and mortar store, but rents motorcycles via its web site and delivers bikes to customers.

"During this transition period, we are continuing to deliver motorcycles to our customers via our web site at http://www.SportRyderRentals.com/Motorcycles.html ," said Charles McMurray, owner and operator of Sport Ryder Rentals. "With the news of our defeat, it seems more people realized our business was in town and gave us a try."

Motorcycle rentals for the online store -- http://www.SportRyderRentals.com/Motorcycles.html -- increased by a third in the week following the news, demonstrating clear market demand in the area. "Clearly, people want to rent motorcycles in the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex," said McMurray. "Our new location will be a mix of rental, light service, and retail motorcycle gear."

Sport Ryder Rentals looked to add a brick and mortar store in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and chose Southlake because it is a suburb of both. The intended facility was located in a light industrial area near Dragon Stadium. After winning the vote by the Southlake Planning and Zoning committee by 7-0, Sport Ryder Rentals was defeated by the City Council after an emotional debate about the noise of motorcycles.

"Our bikes are stock and have had no modifications to make them loud and meet the same specifications as automobiles," said McMurray. "But there seems to be an emotional stigma to motorcycles that some people have."

Sport Ryder Rentals is aggressively pursuing other locations in surrounding areas.

Sport Ryder Rentals is a rental company of sport, sport tourer and dual use motorcycles in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas Metro area, and one of the few sport motorcycle rental companies in the United States. They provide motorcycle rentals for customers who need a bike for a day to several weeks. Liability insurance as well as helmet, jacket and gloves are provided with every rental. The Sport Ryder Rentals web site is: http://www.SportRyderRentals.com and allows online reservation of motorcycles.
