The Japanese Are Crazy.com — The 1st Free One-Stop Web Location for Authentic Japanese Comedy, Humor and Entertainment Videos

J.A.C is a rapidly growing online publisher of Japan’s most intriguing and hilarious videos. Led by a team of Japanese pop media enthusiasts, it provides the international web-community with an alternative insight into Japan’s diverse media climate.

Singapore, July 19th 2006 — Who says the Japanese are serious fellows? For the past month, website TheJapaneseAreCrazy.com (otherwise known as J.A.C) has perked up thousands worldwide with its impressive selection of handpicked Japanese video clips showcasing local Japanese humor, prank-comedy and talent extravaganza.

This personal video-blog, which focuses on providing media highlight footage from the likes of Japanese variety game shows and television, began with a private fascination for Japanese pop media culture and its somewhat extreme style of “reality comedy”.

Often, Japanese game shows involve participants being put through incredibly bizarre situations ending up in their utter humiliation. When I was first exposed to this side of Japanese culture I was both shocked and inspired by how sporting the Japanese can be. It was, and still is a huge eye-opener.
Good quality humor is often hard to contain. Within a month, what began as an online portal among friends and enthusiasts, transmogrified into a ready source of Japanese flavored entertainment with an international audience of over 200 000 and a steady subscriber following.

Examples of J.A.C content include a Japanese man engaging his four pet goldfish in a game of synchronized swimming (like puppets with no strings) and rather innovative (as well as unbelievable) pranks played on the average Japanese passerby; such as an elevating public lavatory that only has its Japanese occupant commenting: “What a beautiful view”.

Content also includes rather fascinating Japanese commercials, such as the bouncing “Choco Party Good Good” babe, that border on queer, amusing and/or strange.

The site, at merely a month old, already attracts a daily viewership of over 10 000 and is updated with an average of five to six new videos per day. With a growing international subscriber list of 2700, many of its subscribers log on for daily doses of laughter and amazement.

Says Miss Kristie Chew, a fan and subscriber to the website: “I’ve always thought the Japanese were a bit stiff in nature. In terms of impression, this website (www.thejapanesearecrazy.com) has caused a somewhat mini personal cultural revolution and sparked a curious fascination for the modern Japanese. It’s not just all about bowing and smiles for me now.”

Says J.A.C founder and Media Director, Mr. Ryan Chua: “Often, Japanese game shows involve participants being put through incredibly bizarre situations ending up in their utter humiliation. When I was first exposed to this side of Japanese culture I was both shocked and inspired by how sporting the Japanese can be. It was, and still is a huge eye-opener.”

Ryan goes on to say: “With the rabid advancement of online video technology, we are now able to quickly review, organize, detail and pass content quickly to our niche audiences online…J.A.C started out as a hobby, but we now realize that it has developed into a site which provides an alternative insight into Japan’s media and pop culture…Who would have thought that this type of site would build spontaneous online traffic—the whole world has come to visit! But, most importantly, J.A.C is great fun, free entertainment and loads of laughter!”
