Chop Cut Rebuild - With Dan Woods, Delivers A Legend To Automotive Audiences Sunday, July 30 @ 8:Oo Pm Est; An Hour Long Special – "The Corvette Affair"

Chop Cut Rebuild - with Dan Woods…the highly acclaimed automotive build / customization television series unleashes its first one hour feature. "The Corvette Affair" chronicles the over half century seduction of America’s preeminent sports car.

(PRWEB) July 23, 2006 -- Throughout The Corvette Affair viewers will be taken back to the 1953 inception vehicle, with a Blue Flame six, then transported every generation along the way to today’s design masterpiece…the spectacular C6 Z06.

Through 6 design generations: Host Dan Woods delivers the inside info and insight into the Corvette’s legendary history and ongoing fascination. Supported by commentary from automotive stalwarts such as Denis Gage, Tom Hnatiw, Barry Meguiar, Russell Mitchell and Craig Jackson, this special delivers opinion and insight seldom merged into one single automotive profile. Of course, true to Chop Cut Rebuild form, this documentary is not a “pan ‘n scan” talking heads documentary look at the Corvette… Featured on the show is one of the most meticulous restorations CCR has ever performed – a 35th Anniversary 1988 C4 Corvette Convertible!

“The number one challenge was finding a discarded vette”, said Woods. The CCR team located a salvage vehicle in the desert of Arizona. A base model 1988 Corvette convertible. With engine parts tossed in the weather beaten interior the broken down yellow vehicle was delivered by flat bed truck to the build team at D&P Classic Chevy in Huntington Beach California.

“Our immediate intention was to revive the car into a supreme cruiser…not a concourse de elegance show car”, stated Woods. That intention and the necessary attention took a full 8 months to complete.

The excitement of a full out vette rescue brought many prominent companies to the project. Corvette America swapped out the complete interior while adding updated front and rear body components - merging the 1988 model with a sleeker designed 1994. House Of Kolor Paints joined in creating a silver with black accent concept to cover the weary yellow. Award winning graphic artist, Steve Van Demon applied his artistry with a hand painted design.

To go from a car that could barely run - to cruising thunder, GM Performance Parts entered with dynamite… a ZZ4 power plant. The drive train had to be of superior names to match. Kiesler Transmission stepped up with a Tremec 5 speed, deemed to be the necessary application. Bassani supplied prototype headers and a complete exhaust to handle the blast the D&P designers were looking for.

A Baer Big Brake upgrade along with BFG tires and American Racing Rims, further met the wish list. Then Sony Audio provided their signature Xplod brand to deliver the true pounding sound a “kickin’ - cruising Corvette” absolutely needs.

This rescue build had to be one that would make Corvette’s conceivers - Harley Earl and Zora Arkus-Duntov as fiercely proud as they were of the fire breathing, jet body design car they envisioned.

No sports car has held the fascination of drivers and gazers as long as the iconic Corvette… The Corvette Affair poignantly documents the innovative minds and key components of “the little car’ history and never ceasing seduction… through 50 plus years.
