Getting Your Modeling Start as a “Grid-Girl”

If you’ve got the goods and like being around the world of auto or bike racing, being a grid-girl can make for a nice start in your modeling career.

Hollywood (PRWEB) July 28, 2006 -– Promo modeling covers a few areas in the modeling industry such as handing out leaflets or being in the stands at product or service exhibitions. Another job that falls under this category is that of a “grid-girl.”

These girls who model at car or bike races are booked to hold up a placard of the racer’s name that they work for at the beginning of the race. Other job duties include strutting around in skimpy outfits for the male-dominated crowd and acting as a cheerleader for the racer they represent.

The qualifications for being a model of this type are different than something like fashion modeling which looks for a certain type of beauty to put in their mags. Grid girls just need “street beauty” which is the type of good looks that almost everyone, man or woman, can agree upon. In other words, it’s the type of woman that guys whistle at on the street…hence the term.

Of course, there are no wealthy grid-girls because the pay isn’t nearly as high as doing a fashion shoot for Cosmo, but a woman can easily make what a good waitress would on a busy Saturday night. The good news is the competition for this kind of work isn’t nearly as dog-eats-dog as that of other areas of modeling.

Basically, if you’ve got a great body and you’re beautiful, they’ll probably give you your shot on the grid. As far as talent, there’s really not much too it. If you don’t mind standing on your feet all day, smiling from ear to ear, and have the energy of a person on Red Bull, then you’ve got it made.

So how does one get their modeling start as one of these grid-girls? Well, first you have to find an audition for one. There are a few sites online that can help you with this, one of them being www.how-to-get-into-modeling.

If you’ve got the goods and like being around the world of auto or bike racing, being a grid-girl can make for a nice start in your modeling career.
