Warning: Two Rogue San Ramon, CA, Mortgage Brokers Finally Reveal How They Fight Global Warming by Defying Big Businesses That Harvest 36 Million Trees

Ed Jeffry and Luke Currier have put away their political differences to defend what they say is an assault on Mother Nature. The mortgage lending industry closes 20 million loans per year. Each loan represents well over 1500 pages of paper which equates to 18% of 1 tree. That's 3.6 Million Trees; 36 Million over 10 years. Luke and Ed have developed a way to stop this deforestation once and for all.

San Ramon, CA (PRWEB) August 3, 2006 -- Local San Ramon Mortgage Lenders Ed Jeffry and Luke Currier reveal the shocking truth about the direct link between mortgage lending and global warming.

According to government statistics provided by Wholesale Access via the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and Conservatree.org, 3.6 Million trees were harvested to produce the paper used in mortgage loan files in 2004. Luke Currier had this to say, "We were horrified when we discovered that each loan originated meant 18% of a tree was consumed by the paper in the file."

"We were disgusted by the thought that we were contributing to deforestation simply by helping people achieve the American Dream of homeownership" said Ed Jeffry.

Anyone who has ever had to sign loan papers knows that an average loan file consists of well over 1500 pages of paper. What most of us fail to remember is that a tree was harvested to produce that paper. Mr. Currier and Mr. Jeffry decided to do something about that and to that end are now working with the first mortgage bank in the United States that is certified Green.

Being accepted into the Bay Area Green Business Program means they must be in compliance with all regulations and meet program standards for conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste.

"We wanted to take it beyond just the minimum standards so we plant 50 trees for every loan we close," says Luke Currier of CMG Mortgage Services in San Ramon. "This compensates for 278 loans closed by other less responsible mortgage lenders."

"This issue transcends politics," says Ed Jeffry. "Even if you are like me and you are not sold on the Global Warming concept, you have to admit that you appreciate shade more every day after experiencing our most recent heat wave."

Paperless transactions are available in the mortgage industry, and more lenders are warming up to the idea. Recycled paper, removing duplicate and undeliverable addresses from databases, using energy conscious lighting and business machines as well as low flow water fixtures are many ways green businesses conserve natural resources.

This is evidence that people are interested in helping save energy, reduce pollution and unnecessary waste. “We must decide to make this a priority at work. We all contribute to the energy and air quality problem, now it's time we contribute to the solution” said Mr. Currier. Ask your mortgage lender if he/she is certified green, and if they are not, demand that they become certified or find one that is.

San Ramon, California-based mortgage experts Ed Jeffry and Luke Currier specialize in providing information to consumers that allow them to make informed decisions about their mortgage financing options. They are experts in helping people who have had a bankruptcy or other credit challenge achieve financial security through home ownership and are available for interviews and will welcome all your mortgage related questions.
