HANS(r) Re-certifies to SFI 38.1 Specification
HANS Devices were tested and re-certified last week by the SFI to ensure they maintain the durability and performance levels expected of the industry's leading head and neck restraint system.
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) August 4, 2006 -- HANS Devices were tested and re-certified last week by the SFI to ensure they maintain the durability and performance levels expected of the industry's leading head and neck restraint system. The independent high-G sled testing was conducted by Delphi at their Vandalia, Ohio, Engineering Center under the watchful eye of the SFI.
Jim Downing, who used the first HANS Device in professional racing in the 1980's, witnessed the tests. He said, "Racers know that HANS Devices have class-leading performance on the track. The impartial SFI laboratory test results validate the science behind this performance." Jim added, "Naturally we are conservative when it comes to reporting performance, but when you see neck tension and compression loads less than 15% of the maximum permitted by the SFI standard as we did here, it makes you want to shout. These are the kind of results that provide comfort for our customers, and nightmares for our competition."
Commenting on the testing, Mark Stiles, CEO of HANS Performance Products, said: "No matter how good laboratory tests are, it is a fact that over 30,000 users worldwide now trust HANS Devices as part of their personal racing safety equipment. There is not a week that goes by in stock, drag, short track, sprint, midget, road racing, even power boating, where HANS Devices do not get put to the test." He further commented: "We continue to honor the commitments to honesty and science based performance that Jim and Professor Bob Hubbard made when they first studied head and neck restraints for racers over 25 years ago."
