Freebirds World Burritos and Local Celebrities Roll for Dough in Support of United Way
Freebirds World Burrito and Bryan / College Station, Texas celebrities are at it again. They're rolling burritos in support of United Way. It's a good cause dinner and another great reason to go to Freebirds.
(PRWEB) August 4, 2006 -- Freebirds World Burrito, Texas’ favorite fresh fast casual restaurant known for its Monster burritos, is once again gathering local celebrities for their United We Roll event in College Station. For the third year in a row, Freebirds will gather local celebrities who have volunteered to roll burritos for customers in support of United Way's Loaned Executive Program and to help United Way with operating expenses for running a successful community campaign.
This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, August 8th from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Gateway location at 700 Earl Rudder Freeway (beside The Home Depot). The celebrities involved will include KBTX-TV personalities Michelle Peltier, Meredith Stancik, Toni Harrison and Crystal Galny, as well as College Station Police Chief Michael Clancy, Coach Blair with the A&M Women’s Basketball Team, and Eddie Coulson with College Station ISD.
Customers participate in United We Roll by purchasing tickets for $20.00, which includes a regular burrito, a drink, and a celebrity to roll their burrito. With each ticket purchased, $15.00 will be donated to United Way.
“The United Way’s passion for building strong, healthy communities is a true inspiration for us,” said Alan Hixon, COO, Freebirds World Burrito. “United We Roll is a way to get the public at-large involved in a very worthy cause. We’ve been rolling burritos on behalf of United Way for three years and don’t plan to stop.”
The United Way Loaned Executive Program allows for companies to lend their best and brightest employees to the United Way to assist United Way staff in the development and implementation of workplace campaigns. Loaned Executives help reduce fundraising costs by maximizing staff and volunteer efforts. In return, United Way provides a unique management program that develops sales and executive leadership skills and an understanding of community organization.
