Rock Art Poster Auction to Benefit Bill Graham Foundation
A portion of the proceeds from Backstage Auctions’ Rock Art Poster Auction will directly benefit the Bill Graham Foundation, whose mission is to provide grants in the area of music, arts and education.
Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 14, 2006 -– Backstage Auctions is proud to present its second annual Rock Art Poster Auction which will showcase hundreds of hand selected rock art posters from the private collection of Arlene Owseichik, former Art Director for Bill Graham Presents. Arlene’s collection, which features 700 beautiful posters, is being offered in part to raise money for the Bill Graham Foundation.
During Owseichik’s tenure at Bill Graham Presents, six of them working alongside Bill Graham himself, she received a complete education in the art school of rock. “It has been a great experience for me to revisit the posters in preparation for this auction. I have a great appreciation and respect for Bill Graham and his impact in the music industry and felt it only fitting that a portion of the proceeds go directly to the Bill Graham Foundation in the spirit of supporting Bill’s philanthropic legacy,” explains Owseichik.
The amazing collection offers original posters featuring a wide range of classic and current day artists. “There is literally something for everyone in the this auction, whether you collect The Grateful Dead or The Rolling Stones to Greenday or Red Hot Chili Peppers, we have a little bit of everything,” explains Jacques van Gool, co-founder of Backstage Auctions.
This year’s auction will also feature hundreds of posters from the “Family Dog” and “Bill Graham” variant print collections as well as, the historic Grande Ballroom, Family Dog at Maritime Hall, Avalon and Great Highway collections. “The posters in this years auction spans four decades of music history, it doesn’t get any better than that,” explains van Gool.
The Rock Art Poster Auction will begin on Sunday, August 20 and will run for one week, ending on Sunday, August 28. The complete auction catalog can be previewed online at www.backstageauctions.com.
