Kiwi Skill Game Players Make Their Way to $1 Million Final

Two Kiwi Skill (www.kiwiskill.com) game players have the opportunity to get $1 million richer soon. That’s because they have qualified for the opportunity to participate in the WorldWide Web games on Saturday, September 9th in Los Angeles.

(PRWEB) August 19, 2006 -- Kiwi Skill (www.kiwiskill.com) players Kelli from Pennsylvania and Derek from British Columbia will both be flown to LA to play for the $1 million grand prize and champion title “World’s Best Casual Gamer” at the first-ever WorldWide Web Games. They will compete in the live tournament for the grand prize at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood during the finals on Saturday, September 9th.

"I am very excited to have an opportunity to participate in such an exciting challenge. While I am a proficient player at home, my biggest fear, however, is that I will panic under the pressure,” commented Kelli about playing in the live games. “Thank you to Kiwi Skill for creating such an exciting event. Online play is so popular. Hopefully, more opportunities such as the World Wide Web Games will present themselves."

In the end, 75 finalists made the cut and are going to LA to compete in the WorldWide Web Games, or W3 Games as they are more commonly called. All players qualified by achieving the highest score in their tournament bracket in any one of three of the most popular casual games -- Bejeweled 2, Solitaire or Zuma. The games will be hosted by subsidiaries of FUN Technologies, and filmed for a TV special to air on GSN, the Network for Games, later this year.

“We’re thrilled that two Kiwi Skill players made it into the finals in the World Wide Web games. We’re rooting for Kelli and Derek all the way and hope one of them comes out the champion," commented Gary Jensen of Kiwi Skill. “It’s amazing how fast this industry is growing…so much that we now fly players from all around the world to compete for $1 million. It’s great!”

And the industry certainly is growing at a fast pace. The casual games industry is serious business with expectations of growing to $1.56 billion in 2008. That’s with the estimated number of Americans playing games online at a mind-boggling 124 million (DFC Intelligence, 2006)

Why are skill games played by so many? Their popularity stems from their ease of use and ability for people to challenge their colleagues to a friendly game of skill online. Kiwi Skill (www.kiwiskill.com) has over 70 games including Bejeweled 2, Solitaire, Zuma, Trivia, Dynomite and many other popular titles which enable players to pit their skills against other players in real time tournaments, or head to head play for cash prizes. And the best part is new players get $6 free to try it all out.
