Echo Malibu Teen Treatment Center Sponsors Surfers United Recovery Foundation Event

Echo Malibu Teen Treatment Center announces sponsorship of event to help launch S.U.R.F., Surfers United Recovery Foundation. The foundation is an organization designed to assist surfers and surf industry employees living with chemical dependency issues.

Malibu, CA (PRWEB) August 22, 2006 -- Echo Malibu Teen Treatment Center has announced sponsorship of Surf Clean/Live Clean benefit to support the launch of S.U.R.F., Surfers United Recovery Foundation. The event will be held at epOxybOx at 602 Venice Boulevard, Venice California on Saturday, August 26th.

The event will include live music from West Indian Girl and Shane Blue, a surf photo exhibit (featuring work from youth at Echo Malibu) and the screening of surf movies "Destination Point" and "Islands in the Stream." There will also be a host of prizes to be given away to those who attend, including; a surf board, a signed Donavon Frankenreiter Fender guitar, 1 week at Playa Grande Surf Camp in Costa Rica, Skateboards, DVDs, CDs and more.

For a long time we have seen youth come to us who have had their first introduction to drugs as part of their participation in the surfing culture. We believe that by supporting S.U.R.F. we are both helping those surfers who have developed chemical dependency issues and creating future, sober role models for youth who are interested in surfing and surf culture.
All proceeds from the event will go to support the launching of S.U.R.F., Surfers United Recovery Foundation. The foundation's purpose is to develop resources and assist surfers and surf industry employees living with chemical dependency issues, attain and sustain recovery. According to Dr. Jeffrey Nalin, Executive Director of Echo Malibu Teen Treatment Center, http://www.echomalibu.com the mission of S.U.R.F. is an important one.
