Get the latest information about the 2007 NCAA® Women’s Final Four® basketball championship in Cleveland. The Web site was designed and built by IdeaStar Inc. of Cleveland for the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission.
Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) August 25, 2006 -- Women’s college basketball generates a lot of energy – energy which is evident in the new 2007 NCAA® Women’s Final Four® Web site – (www.womenrockcleveland.com) - which IdeaStar Inc. recently launched for the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission (GCSC).
Womens-Final-FourCleveland will be hosting the 2007 NCAA Women’s Final Four at Quicken Loans Arena April 1 & 3, 2007. With the event coming up next year, the GCSC needed a site to feature information about the event. “The intended purpose of the site was to give Final Four fans, players and media updated information about the Championships, the City of Cleveland, and the Women Rock Series,” explained Annie Hetman, Manager of Communications and Marketing for the GCSC.
The site provides visitor information regarding housing, transportation, restaurants, entertainment and attractions around the Cleveland area, as well as up-to-date NCAA Women’s Basketball news & information. Also included are programs under the “Women Rock” banner focusing on five areas (health & wellness, Title IX, public participation, youth mentoring & leadership, and education outreach) directed toward women and girls. Cleveland is the first host city to create such an ambitious initiative in conjunction with the Final Four, Ms. Hetman said.
IdeaStar incorporated many special features into the site to add both ease and excitement. A content management system allows non-technical GCSC staff members to keep the Web site up-to-date. And just for fun, Jane Hudeck, IdeaStar project manager, said a count down of days until the event actually happens has been installed. There is also a weather report on the home page, and a site search was implemented to allow visitors to peruse the site more quickly.
Ms. Hetman is pleased with the Web site IdeaStar developed for her organization. “The best part about the site is its ease of navigation. The site is very easy to understand. Therefore, finding exactly what you are looking for is uncomplicated. The look of the site is great, too. The colors and the design absolutely fit the theme.”
“Cleveland's hosting of the 2007 NCAA Women's Final Four is a "slam dunk" for the Greater Cleveland community and for the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission,” Ms. Hetman said. “The economic impact for this event is expected to be over $30 million. In addition, Cleveland will receive national media coverage. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Cleveland as the great destination city it is! In this era of technology, such a great event deserves an equally as great Web site and IdeaStar has proven its ability.”
IdeaStar has worked with the GCSC to develop several other sites in the past, including sites for the Continental Cup (http://www.continental-cup.com), the Jim Brown Lacrosse Classic (www.jimbrownlacrosseclassic.com), and the 2004 International Children’s Games (www.childrens-games.org) when they were held in Cleveland.
