AirPcap, A Dedicated WLAN Packet Capture Device for Windows

CACE Technologies is please to announce the release of AirPcap, the first USB 2.0 WLAN packet capture device for Windows and Open Source tools based on the WinPcap library like Wireshark (formerly Ethereal).

Davis, CA (PRWEB) August 23, 2006 -- CACE Technologies is please to announce the release of AirPcap, the first USB 2.0 WLAN packet capture device for Windows and Open Source tools based on the WinPcap library like Wireshark (formerly Ethereal).

Building or securing wireless networks can be a challenge when your tools don't understand radio waves. AirPcap enables troubleshooting tools like Wireshark (formerly Ethereal) and WinDump to provide information about the wireless protocols and radio signals. AirPcap's dedicated receiver can provide crucial information that other solutions can't.

AirPcap is the first open, affordable and easy to deploy WLAN (802.11b/g) packet capture solution for the Windows platform. AirPcap comes as a USB 2.0 adapter, and it's been fully integrated with WinPcap and Wireshark: it enables you to capture and analyze 802.11b/g wireless traffic, including control frames, management frames and power information, using Wireshark on your Windows laptop.

AirPcap supports the following operating systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP 32 and 64 bit, Windows Server 2003 32 and 64 bit.

“Now system administrators building WLAN networks will have affordable tools to troubleshoot physical layer information,” said John Bruno, President of CACE Technologies.

AirPcap is $198 (US) and is available from http://www.cacetech.com
