Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) August 29, 2006 -- Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative (CPI) kicks off its new season of "New Voices" with two diverse new plays by local playwrights Renee Alper and Stacey Morrison at the Aronoff Center Fifth Third Bank Theatre, on Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. The stage readings of Renee Alper's "The Torch Girl" and Stacey Morrison's "From Where… To My Bed?" are part of the New Voices Series and sponsored by the Cincinnati Playwrights Initiative and the Cincinnati Arts Association. Tickets are $6 at the door and the public is invited.

Renee Alper's The Torch Girl is a heart-warming tale based on the real-life journey of a 1996 Olympic torch-bearer living with Down Syndrome. Stacey Morrison, whose adult-themed play, From Where…To My Bed? re-examines the antics of modern courtship.

The Torch Girl by Renee Alper is the compelling true story of Holly Holmes, a young Cincinnati woman with Down Syndrome. Holly struggles to overcome her frustrations and hurdles as she achieves her dreams -- being an actress and a productive member of society. A torch-bearer in the 1996 Olympics, she herself has become a beacon of hope to others. This moving and inspirational piece, told through a series of flashbacks, is suitable for all ages.

From Where… To My Bed? by Stacey Morrison explores the social dynamic of "bed hopping" interweaved into the delicate dance of dating. The central characters revisit their past relationships, resulting in an emotional journey that propels them forward and possibly closer to one another. Starring: Darren Parr, Michael Wirick, Lindsey Valitchka, Agustina Filippini, and stage directions read by Andrea Alter. ~A story about two boys, two girls and a bed.~
