New Sculpture Exhibition Opens at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City, Indiana

The Lubeznik Center for the Arts is proud to present “3-D Discovery: Sculpture from the Lubeznik Center for the Arts to Purdue University North Central” featuring artwork created by more than 30 sculptors who are primarily from Chicago, Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana, but also including Indianapolis, IN; New York; Tennessee and Texas. The exhibit is curated by internationally recognized sculptor and owner of Star Gallery in Michigan City, Tom Scarff. “3-D Discovery” is exhibited on the grounds and galleries at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts from September 9 through October 29, 2006.

(PRWEB) September 1, 2006 -- The Lubeznik Center for the Arts is proud to present “3-D Discovery: Sculpture from the Lubeznik Center for the Arts to Purdue University North Central” featuring artwork created by more than 30 sculptors who are primarily from Chicago, Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana, but also including, Indianapolis, IN; New York; Tennessee and Texas. The exhibit is curated by internationally recognized sculptor and owner of Star Gallery in Michigan City, Tom Scarff. “3-D Discovery” is exhibited on the grounds and galleries at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts from September 9 through October 29, 2006.

“3-D Discovery” celebrates the creative aptitude of contemporary artists and their sculptural works. The content of the exhibition is as varied as the media, allowing for a broad audience. The opening reception will be held at the Lubeznik Center on September 9th from 7-9 p.m. in the Hyndman Gallery (main level).

Exhibiting artists include: John Adduci, John Bannon, Bill Barrett, Pat Donald, Bob Emser, Ron Gard, Ted Sitting Crow Garner, Sherry Giryotas, Michele Goldstrom, John Habela, Richard Heinrich, Mike Helbing, John Henry, Kara James, Terrence Karpowicz, Richard Kiebdaj, Dessa Kirk, Travis Lanning, Faheem Majeed, Derick Malkemus, John Mason, John Mishler, David Nelson, David Noguchi, Eric Nordgulen, Christine Rojek, Debra Sawyer, Tom Scarff, Ed Shay, Phillip Shore, Peter Smith-Phillips, Eric Stephenson, Bruce White and Michael Young.

This exhibition has the generous support of: Horizon Bank, IBEW, NECA and Purdue University North Central.

In conjunction with the opening of “3-D Discovery,” you can also enjoy the newest exhibit by the Lubeznik Center’s Area Artists Association entitled “TROIKA,” featuring drawing, painting and photography created respectively by Sara Scherberg, Tom Brand and John Horwitz. Opening Reception also September 9, from 7-9 p.m. in the Brincka and Library Galleries (upper level). Exhibit runs through October 1, 2006.

”Between October 7 & 29 don’t miss an opportunity to see more 3-dimensional works in “International Invitational: Woodturned Sculptures Too,” curated by Michigan City’s own Larry Jensen, with an opening reception on October 7 from 7-9 p.m. Jensen is a woodturner and an Area Artists Association member.

In September, expand your knowledge about sculpture and other influential artists in Joan Chesterton’s two-part series “Sculpture: Then and Now.” September 7 – “Giants of the 20th Century” and September 21 – “Emerging Masters of the 21st Century.” Requested donation $3 for the public, free to Lubeznik Center members. These presentations are brought to you with the generous support of Purdue University North Central.
