AeA Orange County Council Announces New Government Affairs Committee Chair
AeA, the nation’s largest trade association representing all segments of the high-tech industry, announced August 29th, 2006 that Alvaka Networks' Executive Kevin McDonald is the new Chair of the O.C. Council’s Government Affairs Committee.
Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) September 1, 2006 -- AeA, the nation’s largest trade association representing all segments of the high-tech industry, announced that Alvaka Networks' Executive Kevin McDonald is the new Chair of the Orange County Council’s Government Affairs Committee. McDonald replaces long-time Government Affairs Committee Chair Frank Singer.
The mission of the Government Affairs Committee is to effect change on key local, state and federal public policy issues important to growing and improving high-tech businesses. McDonald succeeds local high-tech entrepreneur Frank Singer, who served for nearly seven years as the Committee Chair.
Singer’s leadership provided Orange County’s high-tech community opportunities to unite and make a difference on key public policy issues in Washington, Sacramento and Orange County. Singer will remain on the committee as Vice Chair and continue to serve on the Orange County Council’s Executive Committee.
“Kevin’s energy, political acumen and outstanding knowledge of the high-tech industry is an excellent match for the Government Affairs Committee,” said Tim Jemal, Executive Director of the AeA Orange County Council. “His base of experience will prove valuable as the AeA Orange County Council embarks on substantially increasing the high-tech community’s political power. Moreover, we are extremely fortunate that Frank Singer will remain on the Committee so we can continue to benefit from his long-history of political insights.”
McDonald’s new role comes at a time of rapid change and growing concerns over privacy, security, intellectual property rights and unbridled global competition. AeA and its member companies are dedicated to assuring that Orange County continues to grow as a technology hub and that high paying jobs are created and remain within our territory. “I have been honored to serve as chairman for so many years and look forward to working with Kevin and the members of the committee in the months and years ahead,” said Singer.
“I am elated at the opportunity to represent such a prestigious and influential collection of companies which are part of AeA,” said Kevin McDonald. “Few organizations are so well suited to have a positive impact and far reaching affect on issues of competitiveness, pro-technology legislation and growth. I am genuinely looking forward to the opportunity and responsibility that comes with my new position as Chair.”
