Three VersaClimber Guinness World Records Broken in One Weekend
A team of 12 fitness enthusiasts from Fusion Gym in Bude, UK, has broken the Guinness world record for climbing on the VersaClimber fitness cardio machine continually for 24 hours. The team achieved a height of 210,886ft -- that’s more than seven times the height of Mount Everest.
Costa Mesa, CA (PRWEB) September 2, 2006 -- A United Kingdom team was led by sports performance trainers Nathan Carter and Kelvin Turner, who also attempted -- and beat -- two world records of his own. He broke the records for climbing on the VersaClimber for 30 and 60 minutes while wearing a 40lb backpack adding a combined 1,232ft to both records.
The record breaking challenges took place over the weekend and were witnessed by thousands of onlookers. Several local businesses also showed their support by donating prizes for a raffle raising money for Cornwall Air Ambulance and FLEET (Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust).
Kelvin commented: “The weekend was a fantastic success all round. We beat all three records we attempted and we raised a lot of money for charity."
The 12 person team to break the 24 hour challenge was made up of members of Fusion Gym: Kelvin Turner, Nathan Carter, Natasha Jones, Sandra Heard, Bridgett Funnell, Gerri Sloman, Sarah Ruscombe King, Jack Penfound, Frank Green, Jim Connelly Webster, Victoria Brown and Gary Carter.
The VersaClimber is a unique, total body stepping and climbing machine which can be found in most major gyms and health clubs across the country. It is also a favorite amongst personal trainers, physiotherapists and professional athletes. Versaclimber UK has supplied a brand new Versaclimber to be used alongside Fusion’s machine so Kelvin and Nathan can attempt their records at the same time as the team.
