Grandparent's Day is Around the Corner - Are You Ready to Celebrate?
Creating happy memories and sharing fun family traditions helps establish a bond between child and grandparent that is not only priceless, but beneficial to both the younger and older generation.
(PRWEB) September 2, 2006 -- Nothing is more refreshing to grandparent’s ears than to hear a little voice joyfully yelling “Grandma and Grandpa are here, hooray-hooray.” It is at that moment grandparents realize they have been blessed with one of life’s greatest rewards; a renewal of their own life and a chance to relive all the pure delights children bring into the world. Grandparent’s Day reminds us about the special role grandma and grandpa play in a child’s life.
Young children find grandparents to be a breath of fresh air because grandparents are a change of pace. As much as children love their parents, grandma and grandpa are the means of getting out of the normal routine. Kids help grandparents rekindle the joy of living as they share their youthful spirit, laughter and their interest in the small things in life. The older folk provide endless possibilities in sharing knowledge, experience, and traditions. The young and old have much to offer each other in terms of care and respect.
Finding ways to keep the generations connected is only a click away. The Internet gives today’s grandparents a boatload of entertainment options. Activities such as special camp outings just for grandparents and grandchildren, kid-friendly crafts, scrap-booking ideas, and maps to drive to a museum to explore a must-see exhibit are just some of the ideas found on the web. Other sources of information grandparents can check into are book reviews so their apt to have the perfect storybook tale for snuggle time.
High on the list of things to do should be music. Music is a valuable activity that provides stimulation for the body and mind of both child and grandparent. Singing, dancing and playing musical instruments together are ways to celebrate their unique and special relationship.
Grandparents can find alternatives to the typical children’s music too. For instance the Internet has many great independent songwriters of children’s music that can’t be found in nationally known stores. Do a search on the web for “children’s songwriter” and you’ll be amazed at the talent out there. Also visit on-line record stores that sell cd’s of independent musicians and look in the children’s/family music sections because there is much more to children’s music than you probably imagined.
Some day the younger generation will be reminiscing about the special times they had with their grandma and grandpa to their own grandchildren. Telling family stories and handing down legacies connects the past, present and future. Interact, laugh and simply enjoy each other on this Grandparent's Day. Family is really all that matters each and every day.
