VBox Announces the XTI-2215 Enhancement IP-Gateways with Built-in IP QoS and Traffic Shaping

Amsterdam, The Netherlands (PRWEB) September 9, 2006 -- VBox Communications a private company partially owned by Optibase (NASDAQ:OBAS), a leading provider of digital broadcast solutions – introduced today the XTI-2215, a new member of its IP-Gateway family of products. VBox’s IP-Gateways increase TCP/IP performance within lossy and high-latency (e.g. satellite, fixed- and mobile-wireless) networks. The IP-Gateway family includes the XTI-2210 Enhancement IP-Gateway, the XTI-2214 Enhancement VPN IP-Gateway and the XTI-2230 Enhancement Multicast & VPN IP-Gateway.
Featuring leading TCP Enhancement as well as HTTP Prefetching technologies for increased bandwidth efficiency and high performance communications, the XTI-2215 is the ideal solution when data is transmitted over heavily congested, lossy and/or high-latency network links. The distributed TelliNet PEP not only accelerates TCP- and HTTP-based transmissions noticeably, but also reduces significantly the required forward- and return-channel bandwidth resources by means of configurable compression and packet aggregation options. On top of that, TelliNet offers a range of additional sophisticated options and features, such as end-user management and accounting, cryptographic protection, bandwidth and congestion control, automated switching of transponders, load sharing, and service redundancy concepts – to name just a few.
The XTI-2215 also provides an embedded version of the well-known TelliShape network policing engine, allowing distribution of the overall available bandwidth among services and end-users according to configurable criteria, e.g. prioritization of automatically-detected RTP-based VoIP sessions. TelliShape can also be used to ensure that the actual bandwidth assigned to each service or end-user for transmission falls between guaranteed minimum and maximum allowed bandwidth levels, both configurable.

The sophisticated hierarchical management of TelliShape allows not only restricting individual bandwidth utilization per XTI-2215 end-point, but also managing the overall and guaranteed bandwidth assigned to a whole group of them. This enables the network operator to individually configure the quality of service assigned to different service providers as well as to their individual end-users.
