Life and Death Battle with Hurricane Katrina Inspires New Storm Survival Guidebook

While most people run away from extreme storms like Hurricane Katrina, one man has made a career out of rushing into the eye of the storm! Based on his own experiences, his new book "The Ultimate Storm Survival Guidebook," can help anyone survive even the most violent of storms.

(PRWEB) September 9, 2006 -- Warren Faidley has made a career out of forecasting, chasing and photographing some of the planet’s most violent weather. There is no doubt his firsthand experiences has taught him a thing or two about staying alive in the eye of violent storms.

Faidley, the world’s first full time professional storm chaser, began chasing storms at age 12. During one of his first chases, he fell into a flooded ravine and nearly drowned. “I found a rock to step on and poke my head out of the water as the “death movie” was playing the credits.”

In 1995 Faidley wrote the best-selling Storm Chaser, a mid-career, picture-autobiography. His popularity is best illustrated through a Google Search that shows over an average of 90,000 references to his unique name.

His latest book, The Ultimate Storm Survival Guidebook, is a compilation of both tried and true severe weather safety tips fused with Faidley’s own experiences. The book is “extensive,” Faidley notes. “This is not just a list of tips as found on the internet. It’s a detailed explanation as to how to survive even the most violent of storms -- an F-5 tornado or a category 5 hurricane.” Interesting anecdotes about his own near disasters, detailed checklists, pictures, illustrations, glossary and interesting facts about extreme weather balance out the guidebook type formatting.

Faidley, a graduate of the University of Arizona, is widely recognized as one of the nation's top severe weather survival experts and foremost storm photographers, with over 20 years experience. He was the initial motion picture consultant for the movie Twister. His photography clientele have included Sheryl Crow and Paul McCartney. He has been featured in countless editorial publications, including National Geographic, Life Magazine and The LA Times. His television credits include The Weather Channel, NOVA, Discovery and most major cable news outlets. He often serves as an on air severe weather expert for CNN and Fox News.
