Twins Walk, Run and Sing for Cancer Charities Written by M.Lockwood-Lass
"Inspired by the loss of their mother to cancer, Nashville Twins, The Readings, created a song that has touched the lives of many. "One of Those Days", and their live performances of it, has been used by the American Cancer Society and others to generate awareness and raise funds for cancer research".
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) September 19, 2006 -- "One of Those Days" is the type of song that touches your heart as it tells about the courage of a woman living with cancer. It also shows the courage of that woman's twin sons, Chris and Eric Reading, who wrote a song so sensitive and inspiring that it has become a theme song for the American Cancer Society's promotional video, as well as continually requested at cancer fundraising events around the country.
The Readings have performed "One of Those Days" for thousands of people at many different events, from their personal concerts to cancer fundraisers. Their next goal is share their song and story with thousands of cancer patients and survivors, by donating their time to a cancer awareness tour that benefits sponsoring cancer groups.
"Although this song is about a person who is terminally ill, it is really about living. Our mother lived every day to its fullest, right to the very end and that's the message," said Chris Reading.
"Each time we play this song, we know we've touched our audience. We've had countless survivors tell us that it perfectly captures the emotions and experiences they encountered during their struggle," added his brother, Eric.
Chris and Eric Reading (pronounced Redding) had both graduated from college and were ready to embark upon their chosen careers when news of their mother's bone marrow cancer brought them home to San Diego. Her death in 1995 prompted them to change their career choices and follow their hearts by writing and singing about everyday people and real life.
"One of Those Days" captures that everyday feeling with the lyrics: "Cause I wanna have one of those days./ Where I wanna do what I wanna do and not be so afraid./ Have the time of my life; pretend that it won't have to end./ I wanna have one of those days, today/ That I may not have again."
With harmonies compared to The Eagles, Chris and Eric perform the songs they've written, reflecting the passions and sorrows of their lives. Both admit they didn't get into music for fame or fortune. The Readings' music comes from their hearts and is meant to touch people's lives.
When it comes to cancer, Chris and Eric are on a mission. Besides volunteering time at their local ASC chapter, they are committed to spreading the message of their song, as well as raising the awareness for the fight against cancer. Chris and Eric also donate a portion of all their CD sales to cancer research.
Beyond ACS concerts and the usual club venues, The Readings are game to play for airline passengers at the Nashville airport music store or put on a two-hour impromptu concert for stranded Southwest Airlines passengers in Chicago. In addition to impressive CD sales at these events, the follow-up email from fans proves The Readings are touching lives.
The Readings can also be seen and heard on CMT.com. They are thrilled to have one of the coveted Artist Websites where fans can listen to The Readings' music, watch their video, and view their electronic press kit.
