World Tax Regulators and XBRL Global Ledger Working Group to Host Meeting with Accounting Software Vendors

The Oasis Tax XML Technical Committee and the XBRL GL Working Group will offer an outreach event for accounting software vendors in San Francisco, CA on October 5 and 6 2006, to promote awareness on XBRL GL, the standardized Global Ledger, and encourage its incorporation in accounting software applications.

Tax regulators worldwide look at XBRL GL as the holistic standard data format to increase their ability to gather the information they require while reducing compliance burdens and increase efficiencies for all participants in the process. Speakers from IRS, the Dutch Ministry of Finance will join the authors and contributors of the XBRL GL technical framework and taxonomies in a series of presentations that will provide:

•      Background and information about XBRL GL and the reasons why accounting software should be XBRL GL-enabled;
•     Guidance on how to incorporate XBRL GL in an application.
•     Information about the resources available for those who are considering XBRL GL adoption.

The Oasis Tax XML TC is an initiative to research and analyze personal and business tax reporting & compliance information, represented in XML, to facilitate interoperability in a way that is open, flexible and international in scope.

The XBRL GL WG is an XBRL International working group established with the purpose of facilitating the development, acceptance, and adoption of XML-based specifications that represent the financial and non-financial facts that flow to reporting and come from transactions.
