Maxitech.Biz Ltd Crowned Regional Winner in 2006 Edge Employer Awards

computer recycling firm, Maxitech.biz Ltd (www.maxitech.biz) is the regional winner of the Edge Employer Awards 2006

(PRWEB) September 18, 2006 -- It was announced today that UK computer recycling firm, Maxitech.biz Ltd, is the regional winner of the Edge Employer Awards 2006, winning a prize of £5,000 for further investment into training. Through its excellent trainee scheme Maxitech.biz Ltd battled it out to win the small business category and will now go through to the national finals to be held later this year. Edge is an independent foundation dedicated to raising the desirability and status of vocational and practical learning among 14-to-24-year-olds of all levels of ability.

Maxitech.biz Ltd is a socially and environmetally focused company dedicated to the provision of computer reuse and recycling services to companies and organisations throughout the UK. A prestigious regional judging panel chose Maxitech.biz Ltd because of its dedication to trainees. Training for recognised IT qualifications is undertaken in all departments, and is supported from the top down as part of its apprentice programme. Over the past three years, Maxitech has trained 145 people between the ages of 14 and 25.

The Edge Employer Awards rewards organisations that provide outstanding learning opportunities for 14-to-25-year-olds and in 2006 is also rewarding individuals for their learning achievements. This year Edge is awarding £300,000 to employers that provide quality apprenticeships, excellent work placements and other practical learning opportunities.

Jeremy Wee, representative of Maxitech.biz Ltd, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have won this accolade. Not only is it wonderful to be recognised for the opportunities we are providing young people, but we now have £5,000 to help us continue and build upon the great things that we are doing. This award has also highlighted the importance of learning on the job in the recycling industry."

Andy Powell, CEO at Edge, said: "Edge is delighted to award this prize to Maxitech.biz Ltd. It has created some fantastic opportunities for young people in the industry and has shown that hands-on learning is good for employers and employees alike. This is a great example of the good work we want to shine a spotlight on."
Maxitech.biz Ltd will be attending the awards ceremony held in London on November 28 to discover whether it has become a national winner. Journalists are invited to attend the awards ceremony at London's Camden Roundhouse. The celebrity national judging panel, which includes Simon Woodroffe, the founder of YO! Sushi and of Dragons' Den fame and Alexandra Amosu, founder of R&B Ringtones, will also be attending.
