Atlanta School of Massage Teachers and Graduates Participate in AMTA 2006 National Massage Therapy Training Convention

Local massage school continues to influence the massage therapy industry through participation in National Massage Therapy Training Convention.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 24, 2006 -- The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) 2006 National Massage Therapy Training Convention takes place October 11-14, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia and Atlanta School of Massage teachers and graduates will be there in full force to support and influence the massage therapy industry. This year's convention promises top-notch presenters and provides the possibility of earning 19 continuing education (CE) hours. New at the convention this year is the Council of Schools (COS) teacher's conference that will highlight topics specifically designed to address massage therapy educators.

Atlanta School of Massage will have representatives in all three key areas of the convention - teachers, massage therapists and massage therapy research. Cindy Farrar, Atlanta School of Massage teacher and member of the Teachers Planning Committee has been actively involved in the planning stages of the conference, helping to decide on topics, select presenters and schedule sessions. Cindy will participate in the opening and closing activities for the Teachers Conference and help with behind the scenes operations. Melony Phillips-Gorin, Atlanta School of Massage teacher and COS member will meet with other COS and AMTA National board members to make plans for the leadership conference in January 2007. Whitney Lowe, Atlanta School of Massage graduate, will present 'Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives', a model for enhancing teaching skills, constructing course objectives and appropriately matching objectives to assessment methods.

Additionally, Atlanta School of Massage will have a poster presentation on their research with Emory University into the effects of Neuromuscular Therapy on patients with Parkinson's disease. This research will be published in a medical journal in the very near future. Atlanta School of Massage is proud to be involved in massage therapy research that can improve quality of life in people with neurodegenerative disorders.
