Call for Submissions: Stories from the Esalen Institute
Now accepting submissions for a book about the transformational life experiences of people who have lived, worked, studied and played at the Esalen Institute, Big Sur, California.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 29, 2006 -- Submissions are now being accepted for a new book that will help characterize what it’s like to live, work, play, and study at the Esalen Institute, one of the leading human potential centers in North America. Individuals who have participated in the life of Esalen are invited to by submit a personal story that describes their journey to Esalen, their experiences there, and/or how the spirit and teachings of Esalen have impacted them in your life today.
The stories can be short or long. They can be funny, inspirational, raunchy, sublime, racy, touching, or all of the above.
In writing these story, individuals are invited to consider the following questions:
- What first called you to Esalen?
- What has Esalen taught you about love… healing… transformation… relationship... the body... beauty… risk… authenticity... nakedness... honesty... friendship... family... truth… consciousness… community?
- What place does Esalen have in your life today?
The stories should be personal and might be filled with emotion and drama. The stories might use vivid imagery. They may start right in the middle of the action, and when they are read, the readers may feel like they are “in the scene.”
Please avoid: preaching, over-analyzing, or any kind of politics.
The stories may be of any length. Quality is more important than quantity.
In order to submit your story individuals must register at the site http://www.ithou.org with a valid email address. Then, they should click on Groups > Esalen > create blog entry in order to submit your story for consideration.
Authors whose stories are selected for publication will receive a small honorarium in the range of $10 to $100 depending on the length and quality of the work.
The deadline for story submissions is July 4, 2007. Although this project is not officially sponsored by the Esalen Institute, a portion of all proceeds from the book sale will be donated to the Esalen Institute.
With the participation of the commmunity of people who have been a part of the life of Esalen, we believe we can create a book about Esalen that gives voice to the magic that happens at the place.
Sincerely,
Albert Wong
