The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that Roger Martin, author, global strategist, and Dean of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, will host an HCI Masters Series Webcast on Monday, October 30, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM ET.

Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) September 28, 2006 -- The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global professional association and educator in talent management strategies, announced today that Roger Martin, author, global strategist, and Dean of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, will host an HCI Masters Series webcast on Monday, October 30, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM ET.

Martin will present "Creativity that Runs Deep: The Design of Business," a session that explores why it is necessary to create elegant, refined products services in imagination-intensive industries in order to effectively compete in the 21st century.

Creativity that Runs Deep: The Design of Business
"Roger Martin, an expert in global competitiveness, understands that competing in today's global economy requires a major shift in strategy. Companies that focus more on creative products and services will be far more successful than those that are volume driven," said Allan Schweyer, HCI's President & Executive Director.

A recognized leader in the academic community, Roger Martin was appointed to a seven-year term as dean of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto in 1998 and re-appointed to a further five-year term effective July 2005. He is also a professor of strategic management at the Rotman School.

Martin, a Canadian from Wallenstein, Ontario, researches and writes about global competitiveness, integrative thinking, business design, and corporate citizenship, as well as Canadian competitiveness policy. His articles are featured in the Harvard Business Review, Time, The Globe and Mail, National Post, BusinessWeek Online, and Barron's, among other publications. He is also the author of "The Responsibility Virus," a book Malcolm Gladwell has called "a triumph."

Roger Martin brings both an academic and a hands-on business perspective to his work. He was formerly a director of Monitor Company, a global strategy consulting firm based in Cambridge, Mass. During his 13 years with Monitor, he founded and chaired Monitor University, the firm's educational arm, served as co-head of the firm for two years, and founded the Canadian office.

He is currently the chair of Workbrain, Inc. and serves on the boards of The Thomson Corporation, Tennis Canada, the Canadian Credit Management Foundation, and the Skoll Foundation. Martin is also a trustee of The Hospital for Sick Children. In addition, he is on the advisory boards of Butterfield & Robinson, Social Capital Partners, and Jefferson Partners, and is a founder of EMAGINE.
