Two companies have recently signed on to sponsor “World Dairy Diary,” (http://www.worlddairydiary.com) the first weblog devoted to news, information and commentary for and about the dairy industry.
Accelerated Genetics and “The Callicrate Bander” from No-Bull Enterprises are the first on-going sponsors for the website, which was started in June 2005 as an information site for the World Dairy Expo. It has since become a general news and information site for the dairy industry.
“Since World Dairy Diary developed a following last year in conjunction with the Expo, we wanted to keep it going on a year-round basis,” said WDD editor Chuck Zimmerman.
The site features daily posts about the dairy industry, from hard news to features, both national and international. A sampling of recent articles include the Beverly Hills Cheese Store Awards, milk marketing numbers from Ontario, a dairy supplement from the American College of Nutrition, export figures from the International Dairy Foods Association, and information about USDA’s upcoming hearings on federal milk marketing orders. The posts include links, pictures, audio and even video.
World Dairy Diary has attracted almost 8,000 unique visitors since it was first publicly promoted and has a loyal following of daily visitors. Visitors are also subscribing to the blog’s RSS feed so they can receive updates on their computer automatically. “We are encouraging members of the dairy industry, media and anyone interested to get their dose of World Dairy Diary daily,” said Zimmerman.
World Dairy Diary is published by ZimmComm, a new media marketing and communications firm located in Holts Summit, MO. The company is owned by Chuck & Cindy Zimmerman who have been actively involved in agricultural journalism and agrimarketing for more than 20 years.
