Dye Solar Cell Research Materials Available through Dyesol's Expanded Online Store

Dyesol, 3rd generation solar technology company, now offers the world's widest range of DSC research materials, components and equipment online.

Queanbeyan, NSW (PRWEB) May 30, 2006 -- Dyesol, Australia’s leader in the field of Dye Solar Cell technology, has added a further 23 items of materials and components to its already impressive array of products available through its online store giving scientists around the world easy access to the widest range of materials for use in Dye Solar Cell research.

“The 43 items now for sale through our online store even include an educational CD-ROM describing DSC or Graetzel Cell technology and its future uses in the built environment, and an ‘executive toy’ fan powered by a DSC tile,” says Mrs Sylvia Tulloch, Managing Director of Dyesol. “

Dye Solar Cell technology will eventually provide on-site power generation for existing and new buildings. Glass power generation tiles which produce electricity even in low light conditions and can be used to replace existing or new glazing are already a reality
“Of course most of our products are geared towards the research community and include a range of electrolytes, ruthenium dyes, platinum and titania pastes as well as various single or multi-cell glass test plates, even some printed with a transparent nanoparticulate titanium paste.”

Dyesol also offers a range of equipment designed for testing experimental Dye Solar Cells. Reliable recording and collection of test data is necessary in the development of standardised quality controlled cells and is essential at this stage of research into this 3rd generation of solar technology.

“Dye Solar Cell technology will eventually provide on-site power generation for existing and new buildings. Glass power generation tiles which produce electricity even in low light conditions and can be used to replace existing or new glazing are already a reality,” says Mrs Tulloch.

“We don’t yet know all the possible uses or forms of DSC technology, but we do know that Dyesol’s products will play an important role in discoveries in this field around the world.”

Background Info for Dyesol Media Release
The Technology – Dye Solar Cells
DSC technology can best be described as ‘artificial photosynthesis’ using an electrolyte, a layer of titania (a pigment used in white paints and tooth paste) and ruthenium dye sandwiched between glass. Light striking the dye excites electrons which are absorbed by the titania to become an electric current many times stronger than that found in natural photosynthesis in plants. Compared to conventional silicon based photovoltaic technology, Dyesol’s technology has lower cost and embodied energy in manufacture, it produces electricity more efficiently even in low light conditions and can be directly incorporated into buildings by replacing conventional glass panels rather than taking up roof or extra land area.

The Company – Dyesol Limited
Dyesol is located in Queanbeyan NSW (near Canberra) and in August 2005 was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX Code ‘DYE”). Dyesol manufactures and supplies a range of Dye Solar Cell products comprising equipment, chemicals, materials, components and related services to researchers and manufacturers of DSC. The Company is playing a key role in taking this third generation solar technology out of the laboratory and into the community.
