College Student Selling $10 Million Elmo for Tuition and Charity

An engineering student at Clarkson University is taking quite the gamble on an eBay auction, set to end early Tuesday morning. The auction is for one of the recently released TMX Elmo's, with the starting bid set to $1,000,000, and a Buy-It-Now price of $10,000,000. The student claims that if his Elmo sells, 40% of the selling price will be donated to a charity of the winner's choice. The student will be hand-delivering the package dressed in an Elmo suit, and has even agreed to get a tattoo of the furry red Muppet.

Potsdam, NY (PRWEB) September 21, 2006 -- Christian Hall, an engineering student at Clarkson University is taking quite the gamble on an eBay auction, set to end early Tuesday morning. The auction is for one of the recently released TMX Elmo's, with a "Best Offer" option and a Buy-It-Now price of $10,000,000. The student claims that if his Elmo sells, 40% of the selling price will be donated to a charity of the winner's choice. The student will be hand-delivering the package dressed in an Elmo suit, and has even agreed to get a tattoo of the furry red Muppet.

Somehow these crazy little Elmo dolls have completely taken over the marketplace since their release Tuesday. That's where a college student's idea started. In between his engineering courses, he decided purchase a tickle me Elmo from a nearby department store and sell it for $10 Million on eBay.

"I'm hoping I can turn one of these Tickle-Me-Elmo dolls into a large sum of money using eBay, my friends, a little humor, and some major publicity." states Christian Hall. Forty percent of the highest offer or final sale will be donated to the buyer's preferred charity or organization. Christian feels that this is truly a great opportunity to raise some money for a good cause. He is hoping to receive support from people interested in donating to charity, and those who appreciate a little wacky creativity.

As the auction progressed, Christian added some flavor by agreeing to deliver the item in person, wearing a giant Elmo suit. If the auction reaches $1 Million, he has even agreed to get a tattoo of Elmo on his body. Apparently, his enthusiasm has caught on to his friends, who have also agreed to raise the stakes for the benefit of a sale. His friends, fellow Clarkson classmates, will also be dressing up as Sesame Street characters to deliver the package with him. Show your support by visiting the auction:
