Silanis Equips Tinker Air Force Base with a Secure Electronic Signing Application

Silanis Technology, the industry's most experienced electronic signature provider with more than two million government and commercial users, today announced that the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, based at Tinker Air Force Base, had purchased Silanis' secure electronic signing application for administrative functions and staff work.

Montreal, QC (PRWEB) January 9, 2007 -- Silanis Technology, the industry's most experienced electronic signature provider with more than two million government and commercial users, today announced that the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, based at Tinker Air Force Base, had purchased Silanis' secure electronic signing application for administrative functions and staff work.

As the largest air logistics center in the Air Force Material Command, Tinker's 25,663 staff members provide service and support for 31 weapon systems, 10 commands and 93 Air Force bases across 46 countries.

Eliminating the need to physically route paper documents for signature approval across Tinker Air Force Base, this solution is expected to shorten the time it takes for aircraft maintenance and repair documents to be approved, and enable funds that were previously spent on paper to be redirected to areas of greater need.

Currently being deployed across the logistics center, Silanis' ApproveIt® solution provides a secure, electronic alternative to hand-signing documents. As a JITC-certified, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) electronic signing application, it works with the DoD PKI, common access cards (CAC) and the most widely used file formats, such as IBM Workplace, Adobe Acrobat, MS Word and MS Excel. ApproveIt uses digital signature technology to ensure secure electronic signing capabilities, and incorporates a process that captures and reproduces signing intent so that the electronic process is auditable and legally enforceable.

This Air Logistics Center's staff will be able to electronically sign documents with the assurance that users are who they say they are; that the contents of a signed document cannot be modified without detection or authorization; and that a permanent audit trail of the process has been created to record the accountability of all parties.

Many other government agencies are benefiting from paperless processes as well. The Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Services, for example, has reduced the processing time of new recruits by 25 per cent as a result of deploying Silanis' electronic signature solution across its 280 international offices. It has also reduced the number of forms that are lost or misfiled when routing paper around the world. Finally, electronically signed files now automatically trigger other related processes, such as security clearance requests and background checks.

According to Air Force officials, eliminating paper and its related processes from the entire Air Force could save it $149 million annually.
