Interaction Associates to Sponsor The Conference Board's 2007 Leadership Development Conference

Interaction Associates to present on leadership, collaboration, and developing cross-functional & networked leaders.

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) January 2, 2007 -- Interaction Associates (IA) will sponsor of The Conference Board's Leadership Development Conference -- Building Organizational Capability to Execute Business Strategy -- scheduled for two different dates and locations in 2007: May 10-11 in New York City and June 13-14 in San Diego.

"Leadership development is a huge challenge facing companies of all sizes -- especially in this age of retiring baby boomers," said Linda Dunkel, president and CEO of Interaction Associates. "Emerging leaders need the skills necessary to lead global companies -- many of which are highly decentralized organizations with matrix management structures," said Dunkel.

Interaction Associates will conduct two sessions in the Leadership Development Conference -- including:

Session One:
Leading the Collaborative Organization -- A Panel of Experts Facilitated by Linda Dunkel
May 10 in New York City and June 14 in San Diego

Focus of session: To adapt to the rapid pace of change, today's agile enterprises have evolved into highly collaborative, team-based, and matrixed structures. Industries as diverse as energy, financial services, and healthcare are finding that collaboration is key to innovation and growth. In an environment of unpredictable markets, resource constraints, time pressure, and high workloads, success depends on the leader's ability to support large-scale collaboration -- across teams, tasks and resources. What are the collaborative competencies needed for today's leaders to align and empower their teams to succeed? What are the particular challenges and advantages of the collaborative culture?

This panel session will teach: The business case for a collaborative approach to leadership;
how leading organizations are developing collaborative skills in their leaders; the common skills, behaviors, competencies that leaders of a highly engaged workforce exhibit; the effective interventions for leaders whose engagement scores are lower; the critical competencies for enabling a collaborative culture -- and attracting and retaining top talent.

Panelists:
Sharon J. Confessore, Ph.D, Senior Director, Learning and Organization Effectiveness at Kaiser Permanente; Christine Arena, senior consultant, Interaction Associates, and author, The High-Purpose Company and Cause for Success; Carolyn Fischer, Director, Organization Development, Comcast

Session Two:
Developing Fully Cross-Functional, Networked Leaders
May 11 in New York City and June 14 in San Diego

Focus of session: AG Edwards needed to develop senior leaders who had spent much of their careers within individual functional silos into fully cross-functional, networked leaders. The solution was an action learning-based leadership development program called the Chairman's Challenge. It provides senior-level leaders with a learning experience balancing new sills acquisition in leadership, business acumen, change tools, and collaboration skills with team-based action learning experiences -- all in service of developing a balanced scorecard for the enterprise. Key to the program was giving participating high potentials an experience of working across silos and developing internal relationship networks.

This session will teach: How AG Edwards approached the development challenges it faced; how action learning was integrated to allow leaders to flex outside their siloed environments; program results to date.

Session speakers:
Michael Zuccarello, Vice President, Director of Training and Development at AG Edwards
Andy Atkins, Director, Client Services and Senior Consultant at Interaction Associates
