Former NYU college student asked, "What is the meaning of life?" on his popular blog in October 2004. Some fifty-thousand unique hits and two-thousand answers later, he has included the best of them in a trade paperback, "The Real Meaning of Life" (New World Library; $14).

Seventy-two of the most surprising responses are included in the book. Entries come from Christians, Buddhists, Jews, atheists, waitresses, college students, recovering heart attack patients and others.
