Montblanc Products Purveyor Warns of Fakes in the Online Market Place
With an upcoming 5 percent rise in Montblanc prices effective January 15, jewelers expect a rise in grey market and imitation Montblanc products and unauthorized Montblanc sales online. Kimberley & Co., a long-time authorized dealer of Montblanc products, offers some tips for assuring authenticity.

Unauthorized dealers may actually be selling grey market Montblanc products or imitation that are of lesser quality. "All authentic Montblanc pens come with a serial number," said Mazza. "In cases where the seller of the product does not want Montblanc to find out where the product came from, they either file off the serial number--which is visible on the band that holds the clip to the pen--or they replace the clip with a cheap imitation." Buying from an authorized dealer is the only way consumers can be 100% sure they are receiving a genuine Montblanc product.
In order to ensure that products are from an authorized dealer of Montblanc products consumers should take note of these tips:
- Choose a retailer that has a reputation for quality, authentic Montblanc products.
- Make sure the merchant has an authorized Montblanc product seal.
- Authorized dealers of Montblanc products will only display items online, offering a phone number for purchasing information. Montblanc does not allow actual electronic sales.
