Family Digest, Black America's No. 1 Family & Relationship Magazine, will launch a digital edition beginning with its April 2007 issue. Digital copies of the popular magazine will be delivered to readers via the Internet through a download to a PC, laptop or Mac.

There is no digital divide. At least that's what research shows Family Digest Magazine. Family Digest Media Group, Inc. announced today that Family Digest, Black America's No. 1 Family & Relationship Magazine, will launch a digital edition beginning with its April 2007 issue. Digital copies of the popular magazine will be delivered to readers via the Internet through a download to a PC, laptop or Mac.

"Family Digest -- now in our 11th year of publishing -- is moving to a digital format that combines the familiar look and feel of the magazine with the enhanced functionality of electronic content. Our audience has told us that Family Digest is about delivering information that facilitates smarter, healthier and happier Black families, relationships and kids -- in/on any format or platform. As this new century unfolds, it just makes sense to provide our content in this way to as many readers as possible," said Darryl L. Mobley, founder of the magazine. "The millions of Black consumers around the world who consider Family Digest to be the gold standard for information and events for Black families and adults will welcome our digital edition."

Longtime Family Digest reader LT Mullins said, "I have always enjoyed the magazine. But I really love it even more now because my issue gets delivered to me by email. I can read it when I want. I can download it to keep. And the ads have sound! I can even click on links in the articles and ads and get more info when I want. It's just better!"

It's also better for advertisers. Imagine these examples -- Readers scroll over an SUV ad and zoom-in to see the color. Point to a feature of the vehicle and see available options. Click on the nameplate and hear the engine. See/hear the re-purposed TV ad. Then click on the weblink to connect with a dealer or get more information. An ad in Family Digest Magazine for a movie or a new record album can allow readers to see the movie trailer or hear the new song. A vacation ad could include a video tour of the destination. Advertisers will be able to include response generating digital BRCs, Cover Wraps, and Gatefolds (just as with print magazines) in their ads, if desired.

Family Digest receives more than 4,000 unsolicited letters each month from readers. This incredible demand for information from, and contact with, Family Digest and the Family Digest TV Show demonstrate a level of reader engagement that demands a quicker and more modern way of responding. It's dialog. The more personal -- the better. Going digital allows Family Digest to meet this demand.

Family Digest's Editor-in-Chief Susan Benjamin added, "We see this as a natural growth of the Family Digest brand. We conducted reader research over the past nine months regarding a digital Family Digest Magazine. The response has been extremely positive. By launching Family Digest Magazine Digital, we offer consumers more content, more often. The digitized issue is delivered nine times a year, as opposed to quarterly as we do with the print issues. It is otherwise identical in every way with Family Digest's print edition."

Family Digest's loyal advertisers can now fully engage the important Black Consumer Market that has demanded this change, with more powerful ads that include sight, sound, motion (animation, streaming video, etc.) and live web links within the ads -- all that engage readers during each consumer's moment of truth ... when interest is highest. The multimedia capabilities of Family Digest Magazine's digital platform enable advertisers to develop enhanced creative solutions within their "print" real estate. Advertising can be substantially more intrusive.

Mobley said, "The increased distribution, access, immediacy and ability to add interactive sight, sound and motion in marketing to the important Black Consumer Market will increase our loyal advertisers' reach to these consumers. It also provides additional opportunities for our brand to meet the growing demand of companies to market online. Can you imagine the impact of an ad that includes video, audio and links that engage and take readers to the advertiser's web page, retail outlet or questionnaire during their personal moment of truth ... when their interest level is focused and at its highest. I see this as print on steroids! In addition, digital Family Digest Magazine will be a powerful way to tie-in with The Family Digest TV Show, the Family Digest REPORTS radio show, our websites, and our events -- such as the Family Digest® POWER OF FAMILY GET TOGETHER™ held at Walt Disney World® Resort. We see significant opportunities for cross promotion and bundling between our properties. All of this creates a win for our readers and a win for loyal advertisers."

Family Digest Magazine's rate base will increase from 400,000 to 600,000 effective with the April 2007 issue.

The first digital edition will premiere on April 15, 2007. The issue includes fascinating articles that help readers get and give more love in their lives.
