This site is the creation of Long Island, NY resident Laura Miller, who has been a staff member at several camps and has worked in camp marketing. "We are overwhelmed with the response to this site," says Miller. "With this online camp forum, we hit upon a need. It's the type of candid information that was previously not available online."

The CampRatingz.com software and design were done by internet entrepreneurs John Swapceinski, co-founder of RateMyTeachers.com, and Bob Nicholson, former VP of Engineering of Red Herring magazine. The site allows families to anonymously rate camps on five different criteria, including staff, facilities, activities, personal attention and monetary value, and provides an area for comments. RatingzSM Inc is a California-based internet consumer ratings company, best known for its ratings and reviews of service providers and premise-based businesses. Its other review sites include ChildCareRatingz.com, RealtorRatingz.com and VetRatingz.com.
