Hockey team managers, including girl hockey team managers, can now get in-depth and timely management tips and lessons from one of the most recognized agencies in the sport. This program details everything managers need to know to make their jobs easier and improve team morale and competitiveness

The Hockey Source ( is pleased to announce the launch of a new comprehensive team management training program. Included in the system are materials for all aspects of the sport, including girl hockey.

According to a company spokesperson: "Today there is no specialty training for team managers. This role is one that spends on average 20 hours a week administering team functions and duties. The person who takes on this role is usually a parent or friend of the coach. They have little if any knowledge on how to deal with budgets, fund raising, travel management, and communication with parents/leagues/districts. Year after year, this role is usually filled with a first timer and this is especially true for girl hockey teams. Attrition is huge and support is nil."

The authors of this management program have corrected this by supplying solid and timely information that includes subjects on team management, pitfalls to watch out for, how to conduct meaningful meetings, fund raising strategies that work, communication issues, and a host of other valuable tips and techniques, including girl hockey issues.

They are able to accomplish this by raising the comfort level of people who are tasked in the role of Team Manager. This can lead to fewer turnovers of team managers, as it offers the support mechanisms and materials they need to make their jobs easier.

The whole program includes a course, a step-by-step system, and a 1-hour support call with a team management expert and unlimited e-mail support during the season.

Kathy Vigil, former Hockey Executive at SCAHA, says "This will be one of the most valuable resource documents I will own."

"I find myself using the TMS (Customized Resource Manual) files regularly and loving it, especially as we get ready for the season with meetings," says Albert Wong, Team Manager, Toronto, ON.

More details on this comprehensive and useful system can be found at the company website.
