The mats and stair treads (www.floormat.com/engineered-heated-steps-mats.html) are made from a high grade, natural rubber with a textured, slip-resistant surface. The stair treads and mats come with grommets so that the system can be mechanically anchored in place. They may be removed in the off season, or the UV protected rubber mats may be left outside year-round. Cord placement can be provided either on the right (standard) or left, and most are shipped so that all the customer has to do is anchor and plug in the system.
The heated treads and landing mats are energy efficient, using only 35 Watts per square foot of area. For further economy, Martinson Nicholls offers a thermostat accessory that energizes the heated tread system when temperatures are lower than 38 degrees Fahrenheit, and shuts off power when the air temperature rises to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
