As online marketing continues to evolve, so do the legal guidelines of the industry. However, when taking a closer look, the guidelines that effect online marketers are just extensions of traditional advertising issues that have been concerning consumers for the past few decades. Gone are the days of lawlessness on the internet fueled by scams and rip off's. Enter XY7.com, who is leading the way in its attempt at legitimizing the fastest growing form of advertising in the world, internet marketing.
With many recent crackdowns at various online advertising firms and affiliate networks, XY7 is taking a fresh approach to the issue in 2007. We are taking a proactive step in the right direction demanding all advertisers and affiliates strictly adhere to FTC rules about disclosure and documentation. As we update our Terms and Conditions, failure to comply will result in cancellation of any current programs and offers. As a notice to all partners involved in questionable tactics, we strongly encourage you to review all guidelines set forth by the FTC and make any and all necessary changes to your offers. XY7 is doing its part and expect the same from all of our associates. Some things to keep an eye out for are as follows:
- Proper disclaimer of words like free, free trial, no charge, and guaranteed
- Working opt-out email link and physical address in all commercial email campaigns per the Can-Spam Act
- No misleading content
- Proper disclosure of Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policies, and links to the DMCA
- Proper documentation for testimonials
Another piece of concern that we here at XY7 are tackling head on is the issue of fraud. XY7 has implemented a new team to constantly check our network for various forms of fraud for reasons two fold. One, to protect our advertisers interests to maintain lead quality and two, to stop fraudulent affiliates from taking advantage of online ad agencies and giving us a bad name. Fraud has been an ongoing problem and will continue to be so until someone puts a stop to it. XY7 will not support or take part in any type of fraud and will escalate all fraudulent actions to the full extent of the law. If anyone knows of or suspects anyone who employs fraudulent tactics on our network please let us know about it and help our new team eliminate fraud from our industry.
If any of our affiliates or advertisers need any advice or guidance on the issue of legality please consult a qualified lawyer or you can contact your affiliate manager for answers to basic questions concerning our own policies. Thank you in advance for your compliance.
