Cortiva Institute announces the addition of a continuing education program.

Cortiva Institute's students as well as certified massage therapists and health care practitioners will now be offered the opportunity to enhance their skills through Cortiva's new Continuing Education (CE) program (http://cortiva.com/programs/advanced/courses/) . The CE program, currently available in select schools in New Jersey, Arizona, Colorado, Washington and Florida offers the chance to build on specific skill sets while focusing on distinct areas of interest.

"The Cortiva CE program is a milestone for us that we are extremely proud of," explains Diane Trieste, VP of Employer & Alumni Relations. "It's quite exciting to open the door to massage therapists trained elsewhere. They now get an opportunity to further enhance their own careers, learn about Cortiva and become a part of our ever-growing network."

The four distinct courses encourage therapists to create a more specialized practice and build on the strong foundation laid within the Cortiva core programs. The specific programs include:

  • The Maternity & Infant Massage course was created to prepare massage therapists and other health care practitioners to expand their delivery of services to childbearing women, their infants and families. (200 hours)
  • The Therapeutic Massage in Athletics course was developed by Pat Archer, LMP, MS, ATCs, an industry veteran with 30 plus years of experience and the author of Therapeutic Massage for Athletics. It enables students to expand their clientele and hone in on the emerging trend of sports massage. (200 hours)
  • The Thai Yoga Massage course is an innovative and comprehensive course designed to prepare the practitioner to safely and confidently perform traditional supine, prone, sitting and side-lying techniques and creatively integrate them into a fluid and effective session. (200 hours)
  • A nutrition course offered exclusively at Cortiva Institute, Dr. Andrew Weil's Guide to Nutrition for Optimum Health (http://www.drweil.com/drw/ecs/index.html) is based on the teachings of Dr. Andrew Weil's book Eating Well for Optimum Health. The purpose of this course is to provide the student with the basic facts of human nutrition and the essential information necessary to make informed decisions about healthy eating as it relates to optimum health. (68 hours)

In addition to the CE program, Cortiva Institute also offers a professional development series for employees working in massage therapy. These courses enable owners to further develop their staff's skills with several seven-hour courses, including but not limited to Massage & Cancer, Basics of Pregnancy Massage, Professional Ethics for Body Workers, Body Mechanics, Intro to Reflexology, Massage for Athletes and Deep Tissue Refresher.
