MD-IT, http://www.md-it.com, a provider of medical transcription services and software to physician offices and ambulatory clinics, announced today that it has acquired S.O.A.P Medical Transcription, a transcription company in the Twin Cities area. The company's owner received a combination of cash and stock in the transaction and will continue with MD-IT as managing director of the Minneapolis/St. Paul office.

"Medical documentation is changing rapidly as providers must capture more and more information about their patients," stated Faye Thayer, founder of S.O.A.P. Medical Transcription. "The technology required to support our customers is more than a small company can afford on its own. The concept of joining together a number of successful transcription companies, all of whom embrace the philosophy of personal service supported by leading technology, is the future of this industry."

"This acquisition caps a very successful year of growth for us," said Thomas Carson, president and CEO of MD-IT, who noted the company acquired a total of four transcription companies during the final six months of 2006. "We are honored and excited to bring together these successful business owners who share our vision. We work with our clients to integrate new technology seamlessly into the medical transcription process, so that when a practice is ready for something such as EMR integration, we can switch on that function as part of their existing service."

MD-IT currently has offices in Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Minnesota and Texas, and plans to add a number of new locations in 2007. The company tripled revenues in 2006 through a combination of internal growth and acquisition funded by private equity investments.
