Debt Settlement Companies Gather for Guidance

Since 2004 USOBA has been hosting the largest debt settlement conferences in the nation. The 2007 Winter Conference is no exception. Featured presenters include:

Federal Trade Commission (FTC), focusing on the FTC's enforcement of consumer protection statutes and, specifically, those issues that arise most commonly in the debt negotiation industry.

Texas Attorney General's Office, addressing recent enforcement actions and the expectations of the State of Texas regarding debt settlement practices and the direction of Texas regulation.

Experian, relaying information on the effects of charge offs, late payments, amounts settled vs. paid in full and how deletion times for information are determined and more.

USOBA was created to provide information regarding laws and regulation to the bankruptcy alternative and debt settlement industry on both a state and federal level. USOBA also actively participates in drafting legislation and advocating for fair regulation.
