See new, original Valentine's Day poems at Poemsource.com (http://www.poemsource.com), including general purpose Valentine poems, friend, funny, kid, love, and Christian Valentine poetry. In addition, the family Valentine poem category now includes Valentine verse for husband, wife, daughter, son, mother, father, parents, sister, and grandparents. These greeting card poems are copyrighted, but are free for use on personal greeting cards, as detailed in the "Terms of Use" at the site.

Poemsource.com poetry writer Joanna Fuchs says she's been writing greeting card poems since she was a little kid. "When I was about eight years old, I made greeting cards for my family and wrote my own rhymes for them," she says, and I'm still doing it. The site is about two years old, and I just keep writing more and more poems for it.

"It's hard to find rhyming poems anymore," she adds. "Everything is free verse. People have a strong feeling of nostalgia for the traditional rhyming poems. They strike a chord. And Valentine greetings are very popular. Last year over a million people searched for 'Valentine poems' or 'Valentine's Day poems' or 'Valentine poetry' and that doesn't count more specific searches, like 'Valentine love poem.' 'mother Valentine poem,' etc.

"The poems at poemsource.com are not the esoteric contemporary verse that is widespread today," she continues, "but rather old-fashioned, sentimental, touch-the-heart, greeting card poems for anyone and everyone to use on their personal cards."

Although most of the Valentine poetry at poemsource.com is in rhyme, there are some poems in accessible, easy-to-understand free verse, for those who prefer them.

In addition to Valentine poems, the site includes anniversary, baby, birthday, Christmas, father, friendship, funny, get well, graduation, love, mother, New Year's, patriotic, sympathy, teacher, Thanksgiving, thank you, wedding and a variety of other greeting card poems.

Here are some samples of the new 2007 Valentine poems:

From the general purpose "Valentine Poems" page:

Essential Valentine

On Valentine's Day we think about

Those matchless people who

Give extra meaning to our lives--

The very special few.

Without them, skies would turn to gray;

Things wouldn't be the same;

Life wouldn't be as colorful;

It would be a duller game.

And when I contemplate that group,

Friends and family who are mine,

I appreciate and treasure you;

You're essential, Valentine!

From the "Valentine Love Poems" page:

A Joy I Never Knew

Have I told you, Valentine,

That I'm all wrapped up in you?

My feelings for you bring to me

A joy I never knew.

You light up everything for me;

In my heart you shine;

Illuminating my whole life,

My darling Valentine.

From the "Family Valentine Poems" page:

Valentine's Day Poem For Grandparents

Grandma and Grandpa, you're my Valentine;

You make a difference in my life each day;

Because I have your unconditional love,

You've given me a gift I can't repay.

If I could make the world a better place,

If there were just one thing that I could do,

To make each person happy and at peace,

I'd give them all grandparents just like you!
