Boston, MA (PRWEB) January 14, 2007 -- Updating the classic medium of radio drama with today's technology, Blue Sky Red Entertainment announces the completion of the first season of Second Shift. The thirteen episodes of this story have been downloaded thousands of times over the past several months, and now high quality versions are available for purchase both as an MP3 download and in a CD package.
Second Shift is a comedic fantasy / adventure story about three Boston-area college students who are "shifted" to a fantasy world against their will. Told in a "slice of life" style, listeners hear the story of Shauna Brown, Mike Archer and Katherine Rinson. They appear in Laundi, a city where magic items are made and sold, where people go to study, and where the Undying attack. The three of them must find a place in that world while trying to find a way back home.
A live reading of the pilot episode will be performed Sunday, January 14 at Arisia 2007 (http://2007.arisia.org/). This performance is free with paid attendance to the Boston-area science fiction and fantasy convention. The episode was written by Andrea Shubert, Brandon Crose and John Tanzer, and was edited by Becki Davis. The main vocal cast will perform the episode, entitled "Everything to Everyone", with a prerecorded soundtrack and with both recorded and live foley. Second Shift will be appearing along with the Post-Meridian Radio Players, who will perform "Red Shift: Interplanetary Do-Gooder."
Second Shift is created by a team of fourteen people. The first episode was released in June 2006 and the finale of the first season was released on January 8th, 2007. Episodes average about 35 minutes in length. The podcast containing the episodes can be found on iTunes™ and also at http://secondshiftpodcast.com. That website also has an online store, where an entire season of high-quality downloads can be purchased for under $13.

A Boston-based audio theater troupe, The Post-Meridian Radio Players perform live re-creations of old time radio classics, as well as their own original productions. Performances since their inception in 2005 have included the campy "Chicken Heart" episode of "Lights Out!", selections from "Fibber McGee & Molly", adaptations of "The Lady Maid's Bell" by Edith Wharton and "The Monkey's Paw" by W. W. Jacobs from the CBC's "Nightfall" anthology series, and "Red Shift: Interplanetary
Do-Gooder", an original homage to the sci-fi serials of the 30s and 40s.
