(PRWEB) January 15, 2007 -- Hundreds of concerned citizens are expected to attend the 6 p.m. rally and 7 p.m. final public hearing before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) makes its decision on Shell's proposal to build the LNG storage facility in Long Island Sound. The bus will pick up more passengers at 4:45 p.m. at the commuter lot off Exit 40 in Milford. The bus departs Branford at 9:30 p.m. to return passengers to Milford and Westport. "The future of Long Island Sound is being decided," said Leah Schmalz, director of legislative and legal affairs for Save the Sound, a program of Connecticut Fund for the Environment. "It is important for anyone who can get to the rally to join us in protecting our regional heritage and this federally designated Estuary of National Significance."
Save the Sound is encouraging Connecticut residents to invite their friends and family to the rally and public hearing. The message is simple - tell the federal agency holding the future of Long Island Sound in its hands that the Sound is not for sale.
"It's our water, not Broadwater," Schmalz said.
The group is making talking points available on its website: http://www.savethesound.org/broadwater/images/BwaterTalkingPoints.pdf
