Webmaster Tool Provides Direct Access to Photographers and Illustrators

Image by Request gives webmasters, web designers and graphic artists a way to buy photos, illustrations and images directly from photographers and illustrators, providing a unique alternative to tired stock photography.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) January 15, 2007 -- Image by Request offers a one-of-a-kind, and free, service to webmasters searching for photographs and illustrations.

Webmasters can now request images directly from registered professional photographers and illustrators, giving the webmaster unique creative, exactly as requested, at a price comparable to buying stock photography.

Traditionally, those looking to buy images for their website either had to setup a photo shoot, work with an assignment photographer, or search through thousands of stock photos, often to come up empty-handed.

"Many images found on the stock photo sites are simply overused. And, finding exactly the image you really want is usually impossible," said Pawel Mastalerz, founder of Image by Request.

Mastalerz created Image by Request out of frustration with the current model for finding images online.

"Stock photography sites offer the same tired images to everyone. You never know if you're buying the same image that your competitor is buying." Furthermore, Mastslerz said, the average cost of hiring an assignment photographer is around $2000, out of reach for many webmaters.

Image by Request is a webmaster tool that works by allowing buyers to post a request for a very specific photo or illustration. Current requests range from shots of food to custom illustrations for a children book.

"Having unique creative is important," said Tyron Yamaguchi, a freelance art director.

Photographers and illustrators then bid on the opportunity to provide that image.

According to Yamaguchi, "the cost is usually close to what I would pay for stock photography, the quality is as good or better, and the images meet my specific requirements for subjects, orientation, poses, backgrounds, styles, etc."

The artists/photographers must be registered with Image by Request and many times will post sample images for the buyer to evaluate.

The requesting webmaster then chooses which bid to accept and makes arrangements directly with the artist. There is no fee collected by Image by Request for the service.

"With Image by Request I can buy photographs and illustrations that fit my requirements and negotiate rights and costs directly with the artist," said Yamaguchi.

There is also a review/feedback system so that webmasters can leave feedback for future buyers to review.

"Being able to see samples from the artists, as well as their past feedback, helps me decide who I want to work with," Yamaguchi said. "And, Image by Request has a lot of qualified photographers to choose from."
