Boulder, CO (PRWEB) January 18, 2007
As Microsoft® prepares to launch its newest operating system, Windows Vista, hardware manufacturers are anxious to prove that their devices and systems are optimized for Vista. Percept Technology Labs (http://www.percept.com), an independent product test and consulting firm specializing in high tech data storage and ITE products, now offers complete Vista testing and certification services, managing the testing entire process from start to finish to obtain the appropriate Vista Windows logo which certifies compatibility.
Positioned as the replacement for Windows XP™, Vista is the most compelling system to be introduced by Microsoft in a decade, according the software giant. In fact, on January 10, 2007, the Windows Vista operating system was selected by the editors of CNET as a "Best of CES 2007" award winner in the computers and hardware category at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Windows Vista is poised to make a significant impact in the global PC marketplace, and producers of computers and peripherals will find it necessary to optimize their products for the new operating system, and offer proof of compatibility. According to Microsoft, by the end of this month, more than 1.5 million devices will have the Windows Vista logo and more than 2,000 products will be Certified for Windows Vista. This will make Internet and networking connections, home entertainment and business tasks faster, easier and more secure, says Microsoft.
As new computing products are introduced in 2007 and beyond, developing firms need to test for and certify Vista compatibility. For many firms, this is a cumbersome and time-consuming process that they do not have the resources or expertise to handle efficiently. In these cases, an experienced independent testing lab is the best option.
Percept Technology Labs offers years of proven Microsoft testing experience to help firms obtain Vista certification quickly and cost-effectively. Percept's testing experts deliver Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) testing to earn the appropriate Windows Vista logo for each specific product. According to John Mozeliak, Percept's president, "For years Percept has delivered proven WHQL testing to data storage firms looking to certify their devices in compliance with Microsoft standards. Now we're pleased to expand these services by offering complete testing and certification for Windows Vista, the newest operating system from Microsoft. Our team has the expertise and tools to run the proper tests and manage the entire certification process from start to finish so clients can focus on their core competencies while our team takes care of Vista certification quickly and cost-effectively."
The Percept team uses Vista DTM (Driver Test Manager), an automated deployable framework that provides complete support for automating Windows-based driver and hardware testing, to qualify products for the Windows Logo Program as follows:
- Basic - For a device logo, the device must pass tests that verify the reliability and performance of the device.
- Premium - For a system logo, all devices and drivers in the system must have their respective device logos or driver quality signatures, and the system must pass an additional series of tests.
- Unclassified - For a driver quality electronic signature, the driver must meet all the criteria and design requirements defined by Microsoft for drivers that run on Windows.
