Our customers' input was integral to helping us develop a solution that saves them significant time and replaces multiple manual processes
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 17, 2007
Patient Placement Systems, a leading provider of patient referral management solutions, today announced the release of its innovative Referral Management System for continuing care providers. This web-based system enables nursing homes, home health agencies, hospices, rehab facilities, and other extended care organizations to more efficiently track and manage all inbound patient referrals and their associated medical documents, automating the entire referral management process.
"Our customers' input was integral to helping us develop a solution that saves them significant time and replaces multiple manual processes," said Eric Christ, president of Patient Placement Systems. "Our web-based tool includes the ability to track and process referral inquiries from any referral source and manage online all of the documents associated with a referral. It provides an integrated, secure solution for facilities and service providers that is focused on the patient referral and placement process."
The Referral Management System has recently been deployed by the Bureau of Home and Community Services of the Alabama Department of Public Health to manage referrals at their 30 offices. It is also currently in use by a number of continuing care and extended care organizations in the Southeast to effectively automate their referral management process.
As a web-based product hosted by Patient Placement Systems, customers have no capital investment and can be live on the system within a week. With the referral information stored centrally, facility staff can securely access the information from any computer with Internet access. Organizations with multiple locations can leverage the Referral Management System to monitor referral and admissions activity across all their locations.
The Patient Placement Referral Management System includes the following capabilities to improve visibility and efficiency:
- Captures and manages all inbound patient referrals and medical documents through HIPAA-compliant information transfers, effectively eliminating the need for a facility fax machine.
- Electronically sends alerts such as "New Referral Received" to e-mail or mobile devices, providing automatic reminders to ensure staff is on top of every referral.
- Sends automatic updates back to the referral source, reducing phone tag.
- Provides a real-time view into the status of all referral activity for one location or all locations with control of all inbound patient referral activity.
- Includes reporting and analysis at every level - by location, by referral source, by user, by line of business, by payor and more. In addition, custom reporting allows for workflow decisions based on current, accurate information.
The Referral Management System builds on the success of the Patient Placement Referral Network used by hospital discharge planners to automate the process of referring and transferring patients from one continuing care facility to another.
